Youth Bowling League

Start learning the skills and rules of a lifelong recreational sport with our RCPR Youth Bowling League. We will be partnering with Valley Lane’s in Harrisonburg to provide a recreational bowling league for Rockingham County Youth. Scores will be kept on the overhead scoreboards at Valley Lanes, but no awards or winners will be declared. The goals are to have fun, learn the basics of the lifelong activity, and compete against yourself for your best score during the four-week program. Bowlers who desire to take their bowling to the next level after completion of our program will have the opportunity to explore the highly competitive league offered by Valley Lanes. Every participant that signs up will be able to bowl two games on four successive Saturdays. Time frame will be assigned once registration has ended (either 9-10:30am or 10:30am-12pm). Registration fees include game fees and shoe fees for every Saturday. Space will be limited so sign up fast!

First Lego league

FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a non-competitive division of FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL), created to inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through fun hands-on STEM learning and LEGO® robotics. This year’s FLL theme challenge is “SUPERPOWERED” and students will explore the entire energy journey including where energy comes from, how energy is used, and what energy problems exist in our community. Working in teams of 6 children, teams will work together to build their own LEGO® energy journey model and build different ways energy is captured, stored, distributed, and consumed. We will explore coding and motorizing our models with LEGO® WeDo 2.0 robotic sets. All FLL programs are built on a foundation of Core Values, celebrating discovery, impact, inclusion, innovation, teamwork, and FUN. Students will have an opportunity to “show off” their team projects and learning on the last day of class and at a FLL Explore Festival at Explore More Museum on Sunday, April 30.
