medicare 101Have you found that choosing the right Medicare coverage for you can be overwhelming? Whether you have Medicare or are trying to understand the various parts we can help. You will learn Parts of Medicare: A, B, C & D, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage and when to enroll. The Medicare workshop is an educational seminar that will help answer your questions. It is designed to help make Medicare options clear. Now is the time to consider all your options and learn about the different parts of Medicare. Paul Pellicane of Pell Insurance Solutions will be conducting the class.FREE | Register By February 3 Friday, February 10 | 10-11am | @RCAC Women's spring VolleyballThe spring volleyball season will start the week of March 20 and run through mid-May. Games will be played on Monday nights. There is an 8-team maximum per night, once those spots are filled, we will have a waitlist. We need at least 4 teams to fill a league. Each team will play at least two games every night. We will have a playoffs/championship the last week.Fee $175 Per Team | Register By March 4 Season: March 20-May 8 | Mondays Ages 16+ | 6:30-9:30pm | @WPMS AARP Smart DriverParticipants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for age-related changes. Persons who complete the course will be issued a Certificate of Completion to be provided to your insurance company for a discount. Please feel free to bring a brown bag lunch to class. All course materials are provided to participants and no tests are involved. Class will be led by AARP instructor, Kati Mole.Fee $20 (AARP Members) $25 (non-members) Register By Two Weeks Prior Ages 55+ | Fridays | 8:30am-4pm February 10 | PDCC March 24 | RCAC pickleball doubles league Ten nights of pickleball doubles league play and a single elimination tournament after the season has concluded! Winners will receive a 2023 RCPR Pickleball Champions t-shirt. Each night your doubles team will play a best of three series. Winner of the best of three series will earn 1 point. Seeding for the single elimination tournament will be determined by win points totaled at the end of the season. A RCPR representative will be present to officially record win points each night. You must be 18+ to play. Teams will keep score and call their own games. Due to court space we will only be accepting six doubles teams’ total. Please make sure you have a committed doubles partner before you register. Pickleball nets, balls and paddles will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own paddle if possible. Once registration is complete, we will reach out to you with more information. Fee $100 Per Team | Register By February 1 Season: February 7-April 25 | Tuesdays | 6-8pm Ages 18+ | @JWES | beginner wild caving Come and join us for an afternoon of learning basic caving safety, underground navigation and some elementary limestone geology. Ages 12 and older are welcome (children and teens may attend unaccompanied, but their transportation must be provided by a parent or guardian). All technical gear, a personal suggested clothing list, Medical Form/Participant Agreement, and driving directions to the activity meetup will be supplied by WILD GUYde Adventures after registration. Fee $25 | Register By February 18 Sunday, February 26 | 1-5pm Ages 12+ | @Franklin, WV Women's Recreation Basketball league The adult women’s basketball season will start early March and run through early May. Night of play is listed below; however game days could change depending on the schools schedule. Make-up games are at the discretion of the department. There will be a tournament style playoff to determine the champions. Entry fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Final rosters are due by the first game. Space is limited to the first 8 teams, then a wait list will be available. *Location is subject to change. Fee $350 per team | Register By February 17 Ages 16+ | 6-10pm | Wednesdays Season: March 1-May 3 | @MMS Back country navigation clinicJoin us for an afternoon of learning and practicing map and compass skills out in the George Washington Ntl. Forest; for day-hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, hunters, scout leaders, and anyone else who likes to wander off the beaten path. Ages 14 and older (teens may attend unaccompanied, but their transportation must be provided by parent or guardian). A personal clothing list, Medical Form/Participant Agreement, and driving directions to the activity meetup will be provided by WILD GUYde Adventures after registration.Fee $30 | Register By March 11 Sunday, March 19 | 1-5pm | Ages 14+ | @GWNF intro to disc golfDisc Golf, sometime also referred to as frisbee golf, is one of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world. This class is a great opportunity for individuals of all ages to be introduced to the game and receive instructions on the fundamentals of disc golf. All participants will receive three beginner appropriate discs to keep at the end of the one hour session.Fee $25 | Register By April 4 Tuesday, April 18 | 6-7pm | Ages 7+ | @RPC |
